Indigo Dye – Shibori (with materials)



Indigo is one of the oldest dyes used to colour fabric and was the only dye used to dye denim jeans. The colour varies from different tones depending on the number of dips in the dye vat. To dye a dark midnight blue, it will take about 50-60 dips in the dye vat to achieve it. Discover the naturally rich blue of indigo dyes as you explore the different ways of folding the fabric to create patterns.
